Easy Knitting Projects
If you are just starting to learn to knit, you should consider doing easy knitting projects. Do not start with complicated projects and end up thinking that knitting is a very difficult hobby. Knitting is easy, as long as you choose projects that are appropriate for your knitting skills.
Easy Knitting Projects With Simple Patterns
Beginners should start with simple patterns before trying to more complicated ones to avoid getting discouraged at the outset. Nothing can discourage a newbie hobbyist more than a project that is too difficult.
When choosing patterns for your first projects, you should make sure that the instructions are easy to understand. The terms used should not be too technical. If technical words are used, they should at least be explained in the instructions.
You should also choose patterns that do not require you to measure in detail. Patterns for making a scarf or a blanket would be good choices. Baby booties or sweaters are difficult because they require exact measurements. One mistake in measuring could lead to a disastrous outcome.
There are some easy knitting projects that you can do as a beginner. Here are some good ideas:
1) Scarves: As was mentioned earlier, a scarf is one of the easiest knitting projects that you can do because of the regular shape.
You can make a long scarf that you can wrap two or three times around your neck, or a short scarf that you can tuck in your coat. Knitted scarves are usually used to protect your neck and chest from the cold. These are thicker than luxurious scarves which are commonly made of silk or satin. You can use garter stitch to create a simple scarf.
2) Belts: Another great clothing accessory that you can create by knitting is a belt.
Wide knitted belts can greatly enhance a boring outfit. You can make several of these in different colors to complement different types of outfits. These belts are just tied around the waist or hips, which makes wearing it very fast and easy. Linen stitch is the commonly used stitch for making a belt.
3) Washclothes: You can also make a small washcloth.
This is a very simple and easy project because of the small size. You can use two different kinds of stitches to make a washcloth, the stockinette stitch for making the washcloth itself, and the seed stitch border to prevent the washcloth’s edges from curling inwards.
4) Afghans: You can also knit an afghan or a blanket to keep yourself warm in winter.
This is a bigger project than the other three but it is just as easy. Choose a durable material like wool for this project. You can use a moss stitch to create a knitted afghan.
5) Envelope Purse: This is a slightly more challenging project.
Once you get tired doing rectangular knitted projects, you can start with a project that is a bit more complicated though still not as complicated as making a sweater. You can create an envelope bag where you can put your things when you go out.
Hope these hints have given you some good ideas for easy knitting projects that you can plan yourself.
