Knitting can be a very relaxing hobby. it is reccomended many times for people in big stress jobs. You need two knitting needles and a pattern to get started. There are many choices in yarn, depending on what you want to make. The best way to start is with a simple scarf. You will need a pattern, as this tells you how much yarn you need and what size and kind.
The first thing you will need to learn is how to make a slip knot. Next you will learn how to cast on. You are now ready to begin to knit. I would suggest you start with a knit and purl pattern. This is a very simple pattern.
Looking on the internet you will find actual videos of how to make your knot, cast on, and knit and purl. They do a great job of showing you how to knit. Another way is to pick up a learn to knit book. These books can be found in any book or fabric store. This type of kniting is called hand knitting.
Machine knitting is another form of knitting. It is not as rewarding as hand knitting because the machine does all the work. The machine is faster than hand knitting though. Go to a local sewing store and they can show you a knitting machine or look on the web.
These machines come with complete instructions and patterns so one can get started right away. A person needs to decide if they want to hand knit or machine knit. After making this decision, go to your local store and pick out the items you need to get started.
