Knitting Looms – Are They Right For You?
Knitting looms are good for knitters of all ages. They are portable, making them easy to use while away from home such as at sporting events, long car or plane travel and even while waiting in lines or waiting rooms. Knitting looms use an easy hook and weave process that can be easier for knitters who have arthritis or other disabilities that might limit their fine motor skills. Because looms do not require needles, it is also ideal for smaller children to avoid injury.
Knitting looms can also be helpful for new knitters because they are quick and produce projects that are simple yet fun such as scarves, hats and can even be used to make socks. The ease of use for these looms also makes them useful for
afternoon projects and for teaching someone how to knit.
Knitters who make projects to sell at craft fairs may also find knitting looms to be very useful because it can be a fast way to produce popular items. The portability of looms and lack of needles also means fewer pieces to lose or break. Another benefit to looms lies in not needing a large amount of needles in order to make projects. Looms do come in assorted sizes but it is often not necessary to have one in every size in order to be able to use the loom for knitting. This is one of the limitations of looms in that not having one in every size as with needles can change the outcome of the projects but for most loom knitters this is not a problem.
